About the Event

Arizona doesn't take part in Daylight Savings Time. Meaning that during the summer months we are effectively on Pacific Time & during the winter months Mountain TIme. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Jeanne Heuving has published widely on twentieth century innovative and avant garde texts, including the book Omissions Are Not Accidents: Gender in the Art of Marianne Moore. She is a recipient of NEH and Fulbright research grants, and was recently the H.D. Fellow at the Beinecke Library at Yale. She is on the editorial advisory board of HOW2, an electronic journal devoted to dialogue about innovative writing between writers and critics. She is on the faculty of the Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences program at the University of Washington, Bothell and on the graduate faculty of the University of Washington.

Jami Macarty is the author of the full-length poetry collection The Minuses, Mountain West Poetry Series title (February 2020) by the Center for Literary Publishing at Colorado State University, and three chapbooks of poetry: Instinctive Acts (Nomados Literary Publishers, 2018), Mind of Spring (No. 22, Vallum Chapbook Series, 2017), winner of the 2017 Vallum Chapbook Award, and Landscape of The Wait (Finishing Line Press, 2017), a poetic response to her nephew William’s car accident and year-long coma. Her poems appear or are forthcoming in American, Australian, British, and Canadian journals, including Arc Poetry Magazine, Beloit Poetry Journal, The Capilano Review, Interim, EVENT, The Journal, Otoliths, Orbis, The Rumpus, and Volt. Former Executive Director of Tucson Poetry Festival (1996-2005), her current forays into arts community service, include workshop instructor and event host for Pandora’s Collective, a Poetry Ambassador (2016-2018) for Vancouver’s Poet Laureate, Rachel Rose (2014-2017), and a Fresh Local Poet for Vancouver Park Board (2016-2018). She teaches poetry and poetics at Simon Fraser University; yoga and meditation privately. As well as in Canada and the United States, she’s taught English and yoga in Ecuador, Ethiopia, Nepal, and United Arab Emirates. As co-founder and editor of the online poetry journal The Maynard, she promotes the work of other poets and artists. She is also Poetry Editor for Journal of the Plague Year. On Medium, she writes Peerings & Hearings–Occasional Musings on Arts in the City of Glass, a blog series supporting arts and community (begun in 2016 as a featured column for Anomaly/Anomalous Press). Her own work has been supported by Arizona Commission on the Arts and British Columbia Arts Council, among others; by residencies at Mabel Dodge Luhan House and Banff Centre, by Pushcart Prize nominations, by the tireless editors of literary journals and presses, and by beloved readers.
